Countless numbers of supporters of the imprisoned pro-democratic cleric, Mr. Kazemeini Boroujerdi, attended the funeral ceremony of his late brother, Seyed Hassan Kazemeini Boroujerdi. After the ceremony, eight of Mr. Kazemeini Boroujerdi’s followers were summoned to the Special Court for Clergy for taking part in the ceremony.
According to the report of Human Rights and Democracy in Iran, although the eight supporters of Mr. Kazemeini Boroujerdi had been previously summoned for a third time to the Special Cleric's Court in Tehran, they were summoned to the Court for the fourth time via telephone on Monday, January 7, 2013.
Human Rights Activists for Democracy in Iran strongly condemned the summons.
The summons requests the appearance of the following supporters: Roya Aragi, Maryam Azimi, Narges Ghaffarzadeh, Tayebeh Hosseini, Zahra Abdullah Vand, Zohreh Sharifi, Maryam Ghasemi, and Foroghe Hematya. Several of the summoned supporters are now living outside of Iran and weren’t in attendance at the funeral.
Because Mr. Kazemeini Boroujerdi is a spiritual leader and prisoner of conscience, support for his brother’s funeral was widespread. During the funeral procession, family and relatives of Mr. Boroujerdi, and the other participants were threatened and abused, and photographs and videos of them were taken by security and intelligence forces.
For many years Mr Boroujerdi has attempted to reveal the essential nature of Iran’s religious regime through peaceful means. He wants to show the dramatic differences between the genuine religious teachings of Islam and that the performance of religious theocracy in Iran is not followed by the religious community and the citizens of the country. Because of the uncompromising religious government, Mr Boroujerdi and his supporters regularly experience the rage and wrath of the theocracy.
Conflict between the secular ideas of the cleric and the religious tyranny of the Supreme Leader finally reached the point where security and intelligence forces attempted, at every opportunity, to threaten, harass, and even physically eliminate Mr. Boroujerdi and his followers.
The High Commissioner for Human Rights and other international authorities have demanded referral of the crimes dossier of Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, for Crimes Against Humanity to international judicial bodies.
