Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) - Hossein Kazemeini-Boroujerdi, dissident cleric and political prisoner detained in the Special Clerical ward at Evin prison is suffering from various illnesses and has been prohibited from receiving all medical treatment.
Based on received reports from HRANA, the 55 year old Boroujerdi has served seven years in prison and has never been given any furlough from prison.One of Mr. Boroujerdi’s relatives said: “Though Mr. Boroujerdi’s mother passed away in the early years of his detention and his brother last year, the regime has vehemently refused to allow him to give him furlough which is the right of any prisoner when one of their family members dies. He has been extremely ill for a long time. He suffers from a heart condition, pulmonary issues, diabetes, severe problems with his eyes, kidney stones. His legs are swollen which makes it very difficult for him to walk. His hands also shake as a result of his Parkinson’s disease.”
He added: “Unfortunately the regime refuses to relent and it is only after a report issued from Amnesty International which forced the authorities to transfer him for a short while, to Moddaress Hospital, all the while cuffed and shackled. At the hospital they took tests but rather than allow him to receive any treatment, they dragged him away, right back to prison.”
Hossein Kazemeini-Boroujerdi who has been in ward 325, the special clerical ward of Tehran’s notorious Evin prison has been imprisoned since October of 2006 and has been sentenced to serve 11 years.
